Supporting Flood-Affected Communities with Food and Clean Water
When the waters rose, the world turned upside down for dozens of villages. Entire families watched as their homes, crops, and livelihoods were swallowed by the flood. With roads washed away and infrastructure crumbling, these communities were left stranded—without food, without clean water, and without a clear way forward.
Racing Against the Clock On September 10, the Gawahi Community Development Trust team mobilized to bridge the gap between isolation and survival. Our volunteers navigated submerged terrain to reach families trapped on higher ground and in temporary shelters.
We focused on the most immediate human needs:
- Nourishment: Distributing hot, cooked meals to those who have lost their kitchens and supplies.
- Hydration: Delivering clean, safe drinking water to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
- Protection: Prioritizing the elderly, children, and the most vulnerable who are hit hardest by displacement.
Beyond the Waterline: A flood does more than damage property; it disrupts the rhythm of life. While the water will eventually recede, the trauma of the loss remains. Gawahi Community Development Trust is committed to standing by these resilient families, providing not just supplies, but the hope needed to begin the long journey of rebuilding.
Our Impact on Sept 10:
- Direct Delivery: Reached families in partially and fully submerged areas.
- Immediate Relief: Distributed cooked meals and clean water to hundreds of displaced residents.
- Targeted Care: Focused on children and elderly individuals facing the most severe risks.
In times of disaster, every second counts. We believe that no village is too remote and no family should be left behind. We are staying on the front lines to ensure that even as the waters rise, the spirit of community remains stronger.
How You Can Take Action
The road to recovery is long, and we cannot walk it alone. You can help restore these communities by:
- Donating: Fund the purchase of emergency medical and food supplies.
- Sponsoring: Support our clean water distribution programs.
- Advocating: Share this update to raise awareness for those still stranded.
- Volunteering: Join our relief teams on the ground for future distributions.
Together, we can turn the tide for flood-affected families.
